In 2015, Shanxi Province was identified as the first batch of national photovoltaic poverty alleviation pilot provinces; on June 19, 2015, the National Energy Administration issued the "Reply on Approving the Construction of a National Advanced Technology Photovoltaic Demonstration Base in Shanxi Datong Coal Mining Subsidence Area". Datong City became my country's first photovoltaic "leader" demonstration base; coincidentally, on October 31, the planning of the 2.2GW photovoltaic power generation base in the coal mining subsidence area of Yangquan City also passed expert review.

At the end of last year, the provincial government clearly emphasized that it would fully roll out the photovoltaic poverty alleviation project, and issued a document on March 30, 2016, investing 0.15 billion yuan in 300 poor villages in 58 poor counties to build 100 kW village-level distributed poverty alleviation power stations.
